First Year
Fáilte go Rang a Sé! This is our last year together in Harold Boys’ National School. We are an enthusiastic and hard-working bunch! We love science and all things sport related. We are looking forward to our school trips this term.

Bhaineamar taitneamh as an Tráth na gCeist sa halla le Rang a 3. Go raibh míle maith agaibh do na buachaillí ó Rang a 6!


World Book Day 2026
Some of the amazing efforts the boys went to, to dress up as book characters for World Book Day on the 5th March 2026. Well done also to the winners of our potato Art competition this year.


Engineers Week: Rollercoaster
Go raibh míle maith agat to the parent who donated this amazing rollercoaster to us for Engineers Week.


Engineers Week: Marble Mazes
The boys’ creativity really showed when our computer teacher, Mr. McCarthy, did an engineering workshop with them. Their marble mazes turned out so well, maith sibh!


World Book Day in Rang a 4
Rang a 4 enjoyed World Book Day by dressing up in amazing costumes as a character from a book, creating art based on their favourite books, paired reading with friends and dressing up a potato as a book character!!


Wind Turbines
Happy Engineers’ Week! Rang a Cúig had a great time planning, constructing and testing their wind turbines. The boys showed exceptional creative problem-solving, teamwork and logical thinking skills as they worked in groups and went head-to-head to test their builds.


National Art Gallery
On Friday rang a 3 went to the National Art Gallery. We saw Caravaggio, Jack B. Yeats, The Marriage of Strongbow and Aoife, Monet and much more. We finished with some sketching of Military Manoeuvres. A great day out.


World Book Day
Rang a 3 loved World Book Day. Some of us dressed up as our favourite characters and others dressed up a potato as their favourite characters.


The weather
Rang a 3 have been learning all about the weather. We made weather instruments and went out to record the weather.


Young Einstein Show
Rang a 2 agus a 3 were very lucky to go to the young Einstein show at the Lexicon in Dun Laoghaire. The experiments were very interesting and the boys learnt about electricity, animation, non-Newtonian fluids and much more.


Chicken Cam
We’re watching closely to see if we see any signs of imminent hatching.
Chicken Cam!
Our Chicken Cam is now up and running😀 We are expecting our first chicken to emerge on Tuesday. Check back for updates! Thanks to the PA for funding this project


Junior Einstein Workshop
The boys really enjoyed our trip to the Lexicon Library for a Junior Einstein Workshop for Engineers Week. They were so well behaved on the Dart, so earned some minutes in the playground too. Well done boys!


History Week 2025
The boys always enjoy our History Timeline and bring in the most amazing artefacts!


Science Week
The boys had great fun carrying out their Maths and Science experiments during Science week.


Design a Bridge
Sixth Class enjoyed the challenge of building bridges with Mr McCarthy.


School Tour to EPIC Museum
Our school tour to the EPIC Museum, in Dublin City, was a great success!


Engineers Week 2026
Engineers Week got off to a great start in our classroom with a brilliant show & tell!


EPIC school trip!!
Rang a 4 boys visited the EPIC Irish Emigration museum today with rang a 2. We all went on the DART into the city centre to get to the museum. The boys enjoyed the guided tour, interactive activities along the way and all the amazing knowledge gained about The Famine.


Amazing young artists!!
Our class has been exploring lots of different types of art recently, experimenting with new techniques, materials and styles. Rang a 4 boys did excellent St. Brigid Day art, Valentine’s Day art and more!


Rang a 4 China projects!!
Our rang a 4 boys recently completed their exciting projects all about China! Each student chose a different topic including traditional food, weather, famous dynasties and the Great Wall. The boys used chromebooks, library books and A4 coloured card to create their projects. We are so proud of their effort and teamwork in bringing their projects to life!


Hockey with Skillz Sport
Sixth Class enjoyed their sessions of hockey with Skillz Sport.


Active Break Every Day Challenge
Rang a 2 completed the Active Break Every Day Challenge. Maith sibh rang a 2!


Incubator Project
There was great excitement when the eggs arrived, from Nore Valley Farm, to hatch in our classroom over the next few weeks.


Active Walkway
The riddles that have been placed on our school’s Active Walkway are a fun way to turn on the thinking caps!


Safer Internet Day
We celebrated Safer Internet Day on Tuesday, 10th February. Congratulations to these three boys who won the Internet Safety Slogan competition in Rang a Dó.


Valentine’s Day
Happy Valentine’s Day from everyone in Rang a Dó!


Vex Robotics
The boys were delighted when some 6th class boys came in to show us their robots from the Vex Robotics project.


Valentine's Day
The boys made super hot air balloon Valentine's Day cards. Who is going to be lucky enough to receive one???


Gymnastics
The boys practiced the pencil roll, egg roll, James Bond roll, forwards roll and backwards roll this week.


Scríobh Leabhar
Rang a 3 agus a 5 had a great time reading their Scríobh Leabhar to each other. Maith sibh buachaillí.


Arclight Film Awards
Congratulations to these two boys, who both won awards for their short-films at the Arclight Film Awards. We are so proud!


Creative Schools
The boys really enjoyed making wish sticks with our Creative Schools coordinator, Rebecca.


Waffle Wednesday
It was such a nice treat when some parents came in to make waffles for every class to celebrate our school’s 125th birthday. Go raibh míle maith agaibh!


Maths: Subtraction Dominoes
Well done to these two boys for solving our subtraction dominoes.


Active Walkway
Our school’s active walkway is a fantastic resource. The boys really enjoyed solving the word puzzles.


Maths: Addition & Subtraction
The boys have been using Dienes Blocks to help them understand how to rename when adding and subtracting numbers.


Léitheoireacht le Chéile
Inniu, léigh Rang a Cúig a gcuid leabhar Gaeilge le Rang a Trí. Bhí áthas orainn ar fad am a chaitheamh le chéile agus ár gcuid léitheoireachta agus scríobhnóireachta a thaispeáint. Maith sibh a bhuachaillí! Today, Rang a Cúig read their books as Gaeilge with Rang a Trí. We loved spending time together and showing off our reading and writing. Maith sibh a bhuachaillí!


Demonstrating Decimals
Rang a Cúig have done great work this week by building on their understanding of decimals. We used concrete materials to represent various decimal numbers and checked each other’s work. Great collaborative learning - maith sibh, a bhuachaillí!


3D Shapes
This week rang a 3 have been learning all about 3D shapes. The boys enjoyed a 3D shape maths trail and making prisms and pyramids with match sticks and blue tack.


Print making
Rang a 3 made printing stamps last week. Each stamp had and abogiginal symbol on it. This week we used them to make group and whole class aboriginal stories.


Active Breaks Challenge
The whole school are really enjoying the active breaks challenge. Every day we are being active and doing the Croke Park movement break videos.


Gymnastics
Rang a 3 enjoyed practicing balancing in pairs this week.


Bring in a Teddy day
Rang a 3 had a bring in a teddy day. It was lovely meeting all their furry friends!


Gymnastics
Rang a 3 are loving gymnastics. We also had our bimonthly trip to the library.


Aboriginal dot art
3rd class did a great job on their Aboriginal art work. Maith sibh buachaillí.


Games and Pastimes from the past
The Sixth Class explored games and pastimes from the past in History class. They had fun trying out the games for themselves!


Sixth Class Obstacle Course
During Friendship Week Sixth Class organised an obstacle course for all of the classes out in the yard. But they had time to have a practice run themselves!
