6th Class


Teddy's Ice Cream
We were delighted to see the Teddy's Ice Cream truck pull up outside our school on sunny Friday afternoon. What a treat!


Soccerthon
We loved having our Soccerthon this Wednesday. Thanks to Ms. Breen for reffing and to Ms. Fry for the refreshments afterwards.


Dave's Jungle
We loved having Dave's Jungle come into visit our school this week.


Literature Festival
Last Wednesday 3rd class went to the literature festival in Merrion Square. We attended a highlly engaging talk/workshop with Aoife Dooley author of Squid Squad.


Baltinglass school tour!
Rang a ceathair had a superb day at their school tour in Baltinglass! We had perfect weather and enjoyed all the activities which included archery, kayaking, zip lining, rock climbing and orienteering.


Wellbeing week: Dave’s Jungle
Rang a ceathair are enjoying all the activities for wellbeing week! We are so lucky to experience Dave’s Jungle again this year … in our school hall! From frogs to a snapping turtle, it was amazing!


Literature Festival 2026
Rang a 4 boys enjoyed their annual trip to the International Literature Festival in Merrion Square Park. We loved listening to the author, Shane Hegarty, talking about the process of writing his new book. We enjoyed eating food and having play time afterwards on the grass!


Rang a 4 cinema trip!
Rang a 4 boys have been working so hard lately and deserved a trip to the cinema as a reward! We went to Dun Laoghaire IMC to see the new Super Mario Galaxy movie!


Green Flag Number 8
On Tuesday, some representatives of our Green Schools Committee travelled to The Helix to attend the National Green Flag awards ceremony. Here, the boys were presented with our 8th Green Flag for Global Citizenship: Marine Environment. Our committee have worked very hard for the last two years for this flag and their work certainly paid off! Well done boys!


International Literature Festival
The boys really enjoyed the workshop with author, Aoife Dooley, in Merrion Square Park.


Maths: Transformations
The boys did a great job making their own transformations across their lines of symmetry (pencils). The shapes we have in our classroom help us to visualise the idea the shape is ‘flipped’.


Creative Sixth Class 2026
The Sixth Class boys are currently learning the skill of knitting. Not easy!!


Sixth Class enjoy the playground!
Sixth Class enjoyed a well deserved break at the playground on Hyde Road.


National Spring Clean Rang a Sé 2026
Our Sixth Class did an excellent job of cleaning up in Cuala Fpotball grounds on Hude Road. Well done!


Robot Wars!
Rang a Cúig had a brilliant time playing tennis with the Vex Robots, using their problem solving and critical thinking skills to beat their opponents.


Pop Art
Rang a 3 learnt all about Andy Warhol and Pop Art this week.


National Bike Week
The boys really embraced National Bike Week this week! Maith sibh buachaillí!


Art: Worry Dolls
After reading the story Silly Billy, the boys made their very own worry dolls from Guatemala using clay.


Art: Outdoor Sketching
The boys did a great job sketching our lovely school while the sun was shining.


Cuala and ice pops
Rang a 3 earned enough Dojo points for a trip to Cuala and ice pops!


Titanic
3rd class finished painted their Titanics. They are on display in the hall. Maith sibh.


Heat
Rang a 3 are learning about Heat. We predicted and measured 3 different temperatures around the school. We learnt about what makes good conductors and insulators.


Titanic
We are learning all about the Titanic at the moment. We are busy constructing Titanics in groups.


National Spring Clean
Rang a 3 enjoyed litter picking on Castle Street this Tuesday.


Alan Nolan
Rang a 3 went to a talk with Alan Nolan in Dalkey library on Monday. He was brilliant. He had inspired our writing and drawing.


Annual Spring Clean
We had a great time picking litter for our annual spring clean. Each class covered a different area of Dalkey, so we had a great spread across our locality. Well done for keeping our town tidy boys!


Geography: Caring for our local area
Second class did a great job for this year’s National Spring Clean, up and down St. Patrick’s Road. Well done boys!


Science: The Water Cycle
A great way to visualise the water cycle in action in our classroom!


Active School Week: Staff vs Sixth Class Basketball Match
The much-anticipated annual clash, between the sixth class boys and the staff was a great spectacle. Well done to all who took part, particularly to the staff who narrowly won by 17-16.


Active School Week: Orienteering
Many thanks to Ms. Crowley for setting up a scavenger hunt around the school to find letters, that made a ten-letter word!


Active School Week: Penalty Shoot Out
Well done to everyone who took part in this year’s penalty shoot out. And in particular, to the two finalists who made it through to Friday’s final - maith sibh!


Active School Week: Killiney Hill
The boys had a great day up Killiney Hill to kickstart Active School Week 2026.


Seapoint Blitz
We had a fabulous Monday playing rugby in Kilbogget park with lots of other local schools at the Seapoint Blitz!


Penalty Shootout Final
The boys had a super time in the annual penalty shootout for Active Week! Congratulations to the boys who got through to the final round from each class and a special congratulations to our fifth class pupil who was the overall winner!


Staff v Rang a Sé Basketball Match
The boys had a fantastic time cheering on Rang a Sé as they went head-to-head with staff in our annual basketball match for Active Week! Well done to Rang a Sé who played brilliantly - and a special congratulations to the staff team who managed to pip them at the post for a very close 17 - 16 point win!


Binning It Better
This week our Green Schools committee had the opportunity to test their skills and brush up their knowledge of rubbish sorting and responsible recycling through the ‘Bin it Better’ workshop. The boys impressed our visitor with their existing knowledge and learned a lot about how they can encourage people around them at home and in school to “Bin it Better”. Well done boys!


Penalty shoot out
The whole school completed in a penalty shoot out on Tuesday. Two boys from every class will compete in the final on Friday.


PAWS (Primary Aquatic Water Safety)
3rd class were delighted to complete their PAWS course this week. Maith sibh buachaillí.


Great start to active week!
Rang a 4 enjoyed their annual trip to Killiney Hill for active week. It was a brilliant and sunny day which made the slip n slide extra fun!!☀️


Active Day
The whole school really enjoyed 'Active Day' today. We were so lucky with the weather! Activities included; tag rugby, den building, archery, team building, balancing and the slip and slide.


Show and Tell
On Friday we had three super show and tells.

ASW is coming!
Active School Week is coming! Here are the details.


What clubs are you in?
In our recent ASF survey we could see that our students are heavily involved in sports with outside clubs. At Harold Boys' N. S. we think this is fantastic and want to continue to encourage outside school sports and develop links with these clubs where possible.
ASF Parent Survey
The results are in for our Active School Flag parent survey. Thank you to the 30 parents who completed it. The headlines are: 60% of parents said they do not get enough information about their child's progress in PE. Teachers will ensure to give more feedback on PE at PT meetings. Only 33% of parents said that their child received PE homework. Teachers will give an activity sheet every Wednesday that must be signed by parents. 73% of parents have not visited our ASF page. We


ASF Student Survey
The results are in for our Active School Flag student survey. Thank you to the 100 students for completing it! The headlines are: 1. While 89% enjoy PE there is less enthusiasm for Gymnastics and Dance. So we will work to try and encourage these. While almost 50% enjoy PE homework 12% are not getting any. We will make sure each class ticks off an active activity every Wednesday. Only 30% of students said they visited our ASF page. We will promote it and ask the students to ch
