The boys used their engineering skills both in the classroom and at home through distance learning.
Well done boys, great use of technology also!
Design and Make Activities - Design a boat
- Design a bridge
Energy and Forces
Electricity - the boys explored electricity and circuits in the classroom and also in a terrific workshop in Dalkey library.
Environmental Awareness and Care
We had a wonderful Biodiversity workshop with Dale Treadwell from Naturally Wild.
Sixth Class were the leaders of the Green Schools Committee and took part in many activities throughout the year, from planting to watering to wheelbarrows!
All the hard work paid off in May 2020 when we were successfully awarded the Biodiversity An Taisce Green Flag! Well done boys!
The boys used their Observation Skills and senses to explore Ice Muffins of different sizes and different flavours - eg. sugar, salt.
The boys had great fun and made many interesting discoveries!
Science Open Evening January 2020
Sixth class took part in the Hour of Code which prepared them well for the amazing Vex Robotics project with engineers from Dell to guide them.
These engineers led by Jonathan Gibson, Lisa Fox and Julie Shanahan came to the school during Science Week November 2019 and gave a wonderful talk and demonstration of different robots.
They also used their Maths skills to measure and create the perfect challenge for their robots.
Vex Robotics Project 2019 / 2020
This consisted of ten sessions of working in groups to build a robot, program it and set challenges. Unfortunately our plan to compete against a neighbouring school did not go ahead due to school closures. There's always next year! Many thanks to Dell who organised the project.
