Mrs. Costello's 6th Class visited the BT Young Scientist Exhibition
in the RDS on Thursday 11th January. We had a super scientific day!

Jan 25th 07: The student reports are here below the pictures!
On the 11th of January ‘07 my class and I went to the BT young scientist exhibition 2007. At 9:30am we all left our school for the Dart to Sandymount. Then we walked over to the R.D.S. we got in there at 10:20 and we got split into three groups. In my group were Me, Kevin, Kieran, Jacob and Shane. The first thing we did was go to Bogglevision. It is about how e-mails are sent and it’s in 3-D aswell. I had to go up on the stage and type my name in to a computer and then it was sent by e-mail. After Bogglevision we had to meet up with our class, and then we went around the stalls to have a look. We then had to meet up with our class in the arena to go to a show called ‘The plight of the mountain gorilla’ .It was really good and sadly there are only 700 mountain gorillas left in the whole world. After the show we went around again. We got lots of free things.
At 12:00pm we went to the arena again to see a show called ‘The physics of break dancing’. It was very good. We then went around again, myself and Shane did a puzzle and we won Rolls Royce stuff. I got a light for my phone that lights up when it rings. We met up again and waited for everyone to get there. Then we went to a ‘ bush tucker trial ‘. It was really good but we had to get to the Dart. When it came we got it back to Dalkey. We then walked back to school at 2:30. I had a great day and I hope everyone in my class did too. I would love to go again.

We left the classroom for Dalkey Dart station. We got off the train at Sandymount station. We walked to the RDS. It was a 15-minute walk. We arrived and there were hundreds of people. The entrance was our meeting place. Mrs Costello split us into three groups of 5 and one group of 6. My group was: me, Niall, Cillian, Josh and Theo. We were allowed roam free! We had half an hour to have a look around then we all met back at our meeting place. We rushed to the arena to see The Plight of the Mountain Gorilla at 11 am. Then we all split up again after The Plight of the Mountain Gorilla to see things we hadn’t seen yet. There were tree frogs at one stall and at this primary school stall there was this hovercraft made out of paper held up by magnets in a plastic case. If you pushed the hovercraft back and let go it would fly off it was great. Then on this other stall with: you know when your car breaks down on the motorway you have this sign in your boot that you place down to warn cars, well this stall had that but when a bright light shined on it, it made a loud beeping sound. After that we went to ‘Bogglevision’. It was about what happens to e-mail in 3-D. It was really good. After that we saw Naturally Wild Bush Tucker trials. Then was the physics of break dancing. They were all great. I had a great time and I would love to go again. Ronan McCann 6th Class
