Keep an eye on our green schools blog at https://hbnsgreenschools.weebly.com/ for news and photos of our work throughout the year.

We are proud to be entering our 13th year of the Discover Primary Science & Maths Awards. As part of our school project, we actively participate in Maths Week, Science Week, Engineers Week and Tech Week. We have been very lucky over the years to have guest speakers from the parent body visit the school to share their expertise with the boys. If you, or someone you know might be interested in joining us throughout the year to help us achieve our 13th award, we would be very grateful. Dates are listed below, but speakers are welcome any time! Please contact Ms. O’Carroll.

School Self Evaluation (S.S.E.) The area of focus this year is Teanga Ó Bhéal sa Ghaeilge (Irish Oral Language). Parents received a copy of the Eiseamláirí Teanga for their son’s class last week. We hope you will work on this at home with your son. More details will follow.

Lunches – As several pupils have food allergies, we ask you not to include the following in your son’s lunch: Nutella, Snickers, peanut butter, or fish. Please remind your son not to share his lunch with anyone.
Healthy Lunch reminder: No crisps, bars, sweets, gum or fizzy drinks. The HSE advises first break to be a ‘fruit break’. Friday can be a treat day e.g. a bar. This applies to school tours also.

Office Hours: 9:00am – 1:30pm Monday to Friday. Please note that the office is unattended after 1:30pm.

Uniform: Please ensure your son wears the correct uniform (including black shoes) on non P.E. days and that all items of the uniform have his name clearly marked on them. Uniform Crests are available in the office. The cost of the Crest is €5.

Book Rental – Please note: your son has been allocated an identification number which is on all the books he will rent this year. These books will be returned to the school in June 2019. Parents/Guardians will be asked to purchase new books if those rented are lost or damaged.
