Green School: We start work towards our sixth Green Flag on the theme of Global Citizenship Litter and Waste this year which will highlight how our actions affect others around the world. Our new Green Schools committee to work on this theme will be confirmed soon with representatives from each class.

We will also participate in the Dalkey Creates Wheelbarrow Gardens project again this year. This year our focus is on growing edible plants and herbs and our wheelbarrows will be moved to Dalkey Church Garden on Friday 12th October and will remain on display there for the weekend as part of the Dalkey Creates Festival.
Our Green Schools blog is at http://hbnsgreenschools.weebly.com/ to keep everyone updated on our Green Schools news. Be sure to check it out to see plenty of pictures of our Green Schools committee in action and to see what Green Schools activities are happening in our school as part of our efforts to get the Biodiversity Green Flag this year.
Uniform Sale Over the last few years we have been running a successful initiative to recycle school uniform items.
Good quality clean items can be donated anytime to Ms. Doyle in the school office. A group of parents will sort, size and resell these items on a dedicated sale day during each term. Sales date will be communicated via this Newsletter. Items will range from €1 to €6.
The next sale will take place in the school on the day of the HBNS Annual Cake Sale (20th October).
If you have an immediate need due to loss or damage you can contact Sharon (086 8588830) and we will try to accommodate from stock.
PA News Our Parents’ Association for the next academic year is pretty much up and running. In HBNS the PA is integral to the running of the school in that the PA helps raise funds and support many activities each year. From school trips, to sports equipment, to additional learning materials for the SEN teachers, each and every one of our boys benefits from the money that is raised. None of this would be possible without the work carried out in our fundraising events.

The PA rely on your help, we ask you (and on occasion your boys) to get involved, no matter for how long, please contact your class rep when you hear of upcoming events. The more hands we have, the less work there is for everyone to do. Thank you to everyone who has given their time or effort to past events.

The PA are currently seeking a financial controller. Ideally this would be someone with a background in finance or accountancy but this is not a necessity. If you have a head for figures and would like to offer your services, please contact Jenni Montag on 087 225 6822.

Online Payment We are most grateful to parents who have chosen to pay online & would encourage all parents to do so. Please email Ms. Doyle if you would like to organise this.
