NEWSLETTER – March 2017

Voluntary Contributions: Many thanks to all who have contributed so far this year. It is much appreciated. There has been a phenomenal increase in parents paying online. This has made the administration so much easier for Ms Weafer (& no more lost envelopes at the bottom of school bags!)
Thanks to all.

News from the Parents’ Association: There will be a fundraising family Bingo Night on Friday 24th March in Cuala Hall, Hyde Road, Dalkey. A great night’s fun for the boys, their families and friends.

Bag Packing: In SuperValu with the boys in Rang 5 & 6 on 11th & 12th March Please support.

Charity Swim: This year Rang 6 chose the Temple Street Children’s University Hospital as their charity for the Annual Charity Swim. They swam a total of 22.5 Km! (the average number of lengths per pupil was an amazing 47 lengths) and are hoping to raise about €1000. Well done boys!

Sports News: The after school GAA training is going well with Barry Burke on Wednesday afternoons with a very high attendance each week. Both teams played a friendly match on Wednesday 15th February against Johnstown in Thomastown pitches. One team with Euan Webb as the captain won their match 7-5 to 3-0 and the other team captained by James White as captain lost by 7 points.

Green Schools News: As part of our work towards the Biodiversity flag, Fourth Class brought in a huge range of materials from home and built a bug hotel, which can be seen in the front garden of our school. There are lots of different materials and spaces for the bugs to climb around and shelter in. Bugs are an important part of the eco-system and this shelter will be helpful in encouraging more beneficial insects into our garden and contribute to the conservation of insects under threat such as bumblebees and solitary bees. It also helps the biodiversity of our school garden by giving a home to pollinators and pest-controllers.

Thanks to everyone for co-operating with the Set Down Area. However, there have been complaints from our neighbours on St. Patrick’s Road and these have been passed on to the Gardaí. Please remember:-
• Not to park across driveways
• Not to park on double yellow lines. (This restricts visibility for drivers trying to exit their driveways)
Kindly ensure that you pass this message onto minders, au pairs or anyone else collecting your son at 2.30 pm
