November 2006 - The Vets Visit

The Vets Visit

Today when we went into the hall a vet came in. He brought his dog in. Her name was Chi. He talked to us about taking care of our pets and he said that there are easy pets to take care of and there are hard pets to take care of. The easy pets are small animals such as a gerbil, goldfish, guinea pig, and rat (yuck!). The harder pets are cats, dogs, snakes, and animals like that. If we were to have a dog we are to show our love and affection to him/her and to take care of him/her as well as you can. You should always take your dog out for a walk at least twice a day.

After the questions we were able to see the animals he brought in. He brought in 3 miniature dachshunds, an American-corn snake and 2 gerbils, one black and one albino. We held all the animals except for the gerbils, but no one really paid much attention to them. First thing I did was pet the dog, Chi. Her coat was lovely and soft, and she had eyes like glistening black marbles. She was such a cute dog. Then I went over and asked Billy if I could hold one of the dogs. He said yes and he passed the pup over to me. As I held onto the dog Mrs. Costello came over and took a picture of Kieran and I with the puppies. It was lots of fun. Then the snake slithered around on our hands and we felt it’s cold rubber-like skin. It felt disgusting and weird.

Then after that, the vet had to go. We had a good time in the hall with all the animals. But also we were sad that he had to go because we had such fun. But, of course, he had other duties to attend to. When he left, we had to wash our hands, for Health and Safety reasons.
