MARCH 2006 NEWSLETTER

MARY HANAFIN the Minister for Education & Science will visit Harold Boys’ School on April 2nd. as part of our Open Day celebrations. You are welcome to come and meet the Minister and enjoy a cup of tea and a chat. Open Day is from 2.30pm to 4.00pm.

BOOK DAY was celebrated on March 2nd. Book reviews and book covers were done by pupils and shared among the classes.

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL received €324 as a result of enthusiastic fund raising by Cillin O’Madagain and Oisin Kelly. Well done Boys!

PAKISTAN EARTHQUAKE APPEAL: We were delighted to support this collection organised by Damien Byrne. Blankets, duvets, jackets and sleeping bags were dropped to the school on March 9th. These are now en route to the most needy areas in Pakistan. Thanks to all who took the time to help. BAG PACKING took place in Dalkey on March 11th and this time over €650 was raised. Thanks to the P.T.A. and the boys in 6th Class who took part.

THE HOLY CHILD COMMUNITY SCHOOL, SALLYNOGGIN arrived on March 15th. In addition to entertaining us with their band, they also performed a French play. A very enjoyable event!

A TRIBUTE TO ROAL DAHL: This drama was presented by Transition Year pupils in Holy Child, Killiney on March 22nd. Pupils from 2nd, 3rd and 4th attended. It was a very enjoyable performance.

SEACHTAIN NA GAEILGE celebrations included a poster competition organised by Ms. Molloy Seo cad na daltai a bhuaigh duaiseanna:

CONFIRMATION took place on March 16 2006th . The Episcopal Vicar Enda Lloyd performed the ceremony. Many thanks to Ms. Molloy for her work in preparing the boys for this sacrament.

FIRST PENANCE for boys in 2nd Class took place on March 7th. The boys are now preparing for their First Communion.

TRIP TO BALTINGLASS

This will take place on June 16th 2006. Activities include canoeing, rock climbing/abseiling, orienteering and archery. The cost is €43 per pupil. You may wish to stagger the payments by paying a little each Friday. Remember to include the permission slip!

SOCCER IN CASTLEPARK

2nd Class represented Harold Boys’ for the first time on March 21 2006st. Both teams played superbly!
