Letter from Board to Parent's Association

Dear Noel,
On the occasion of the Annual General Meeting of our Parents' Association,
I wish to record the appreciation of the Board of Management to all those
parents who gave their time so willingly during the year to fund raising,
assisting with yard supervision, social events, etc.,
A special "thanks" to the parents who assisted with the preparations
for our School Open Day in February last. The event was a great success
and was a tribute to their efforts. The Minister for Education and Science,
Mary Hanafm, who paid a visit on that occasion, was most impressed.
As you are aware we have received a substantial capital grant from the Department
for renovations to the school. The work is ongoing and when completed, we
will have many modern facilities of which we can all be proud.
The term for the present Board of Management will end in November next and
a new Board must be constituted. Two representatives from our Parents' Association
(preferably one from either sex) should be elected to join the Board and
I should be obliged if you would bring this to the attention of parents
at the AGM. Perhaps the persons could be nominated at this meeting? I would
take this opportunity to thank Cora O'Donnell and John Thorne for their
sterling work on the present Board.
Funds raised last year through Voluntary Contributions and particularly
through Charitable Donations were in excess of €8,000, of which €3,000
was refunded by the Revenue Commissioners. We therefore intend to continue
this successful scheme and thank all for their generosity.
Again, our heartfelt thanks to all parents and friends for their unstinting
support and co-operation during the past year and with best wishes for continued
success and blessings for the future.
