Steps K’Nex Challenge 2007
On Monday 15th January, pupils from 4th and 5th Class took part in the K’nex challenge. This is a science and engineering initiative and was undertaken as part of our project towards gaining an ‘Award of Excellence in Science’ with Discover Primary Science.
The children worked in groups of two and three. The challenge on the day was to construct a lifeboat. As the children will explain, there were number of criteria involved. We were very lucky to have the expertise of engineer Ronan Kelehan, who also judged the challenge. Many thanks Ronan for all your help and support!
The winners of the challenge will go on to take part in the regional finals. Congratulations to Will Hamilton and Diarmuid McLoughlin from 5th class, who came first.
A huge amount of fun was had by all who participated on the day and we look forward to taking part in this challenge again in the future. A big thank you to Mrs. Mossop and Ms. O’Carroll who prepared our young scientists for the day!
